Pool Cue Shafts

Pool cue shafts are essential components of a pool cue, as they directly impact the performance and feel of the cue. Some key factors to consider when selecting pool cue shafts are:

• Material: Shaft materials include Kielwood purpleheart and carbon fiber. 
• Taper: There are two main types of taper: conical and pro. Conical taper means the shaft smoothly tapers from the fat end to the skinny end, like a cone. Pro taper means a shaft 13mm will have a small  diameter from the tip back about  12" to approximately 13.5mm  and then begins to cone out toward the joint, allowing the player to have a bridge that doesn't interfere with the stroke or the tip position.
• Diameter: Most players use a shaft with a diameter between 12 and 13 millimeters.
• Deflection: Pool cues with low deflection shafts require less compensation for ball spin, providing more accurate shots.
• Interchangeability: While pool cues may seem similar, the differences in materials and tapers can affect the performance and feel of the cue.
